Our “Learn to Play” program runs during our Wednesday afternoon training sessions (5:00- 6:30 p.m. AEST), and is available to all ages (junior and adult amateurs).  Our training group is split into 3 levels; beginner. Intermediate and advanced, which allows all players the opportunity to work on their specific areas of skill development.

With the guidance and tuition of our experienced coaches, it doesn’t take long to advance through the groups and all players, regardless of ability, come together to play a friendly game at the end of each training session.

It’s all about “time in your skates” so you’ll often find the players enjoying general skate sessions at the rink.  (Epic Skate also offers “Learn to Skate” sessions for those who have never skated before).

Our club's junior members vary in age from 5 to 15 and consist of both boys and girls who play together as equals in all age groups.  Children can join our club with no hockey experience necessary, (however a certain level of fitness is required to be able to skate) and learn how to skate and play simultaneously.  Training and protective equipment is provided.

All players need to be a member of Skate Australia (through Skate Qld), which covers them for insurance.

While we recommend all players have their own inline skates (they are also available to hire from the rink), the club can supply all the gear required to train and play safely which includes:

  • Helmet
  • Elbow Guards
  • Gloves
  • Knee/Shin Guards
  • Cover Pants
  • Jersey
  • Hockey Stick

All equipment remains the property of Gold Coast Stars, however, as players progress and commit to this sport over time, they tend to want their own personal gear and return any borrowed equipment to the “new player pool”.
